Teacher Confronted After Alleged Classroom Assault Over Scholarship

A classroom incident involving a teacher, a 13-year-old student, and a scholarship dispute was reportedly captured on security camera after a student covertly re-engaged the recording device. The event culminated in a security officer intervening as the teacher allegedly prepared to strike the student again.

The incident began in a classroom with 28 eighth-graders present. According to reports, Mrs. Whitmore, the teacher, ordered student Jordan, who is 13 years old, to the presentation platform at the front of the room. Before addressing Jordan, Mrs. Whitmore reportedly walked to the back of the classroom and unplugged the power connector for the security camera, causing its indicator light to turn off. She then returned to the front of the class, carrying a large wooden ruler.

Classroom Confrontation

Mrs. Whitmore reportedly struck her desk with the ruler and ordered Jordan to cross his arms and kneel. Jordan initially questioned the instruction but complied. While he was kneeling, Mrs. Whitmore reportedly struck his upper arm with the ruler. She then accused Jordan of stealing her son's scholarship, stating, "You stole my son's scholarship!" Jordan denied the accusation, explaining he did not choose the scholarship winner and was unaware Mrs. Whitmore's son had applied.

Camera Reconnected by Student

During the confrontation, with Mrs. Whitmore's back to the unplugged camera, another student identified as Claire, who sat three desks away from the device, reportedly leaned over and reconnected the camera's power plug to the socket. The camera's indicator light immediately returned, unobserved by Mrs. Whitmore, who remained focused on Jordan.

Security Intervenes

Three rooms away, security officer Mr. Bennett was monitoring classroom feeds. He noticed that the feed for Mrs. Whitmore's classroom, which had been black for several minutes, suddenly reactivated. He observed Jordan kneeling with Mrs. Whitmore standing over him, holding the ruler.
