The Mysterious Disappearance of Lake Angikuni: The entire village disappeared into thin air

Although science is responsible for providing a logical explanation for most events that occur in the world, there are events that cannot be explained. One of them is the mysterious disappearance of Lake Angikuni.

In 1932, a fur trapper went to Lake Angikuni in Canada. He knew the place, as he used to sell his skins. However, upon arriving at the scene, he felt that something was wrong.

The city was completely empty, there was no trace of its inhabitants. Worst of all, the houses were open, there were dishes served on the tables, even fireplaces were lit. As if people had disappeared from one moment to the next.

The Mysterious Story of the Disappearance of Lake Angikuni

Lake Anjikuni is located in the Kivaliq region of Nunavut, Canada. The lake is famous for the diversity of freshwater aquatic fauna.

So, an old group of fishermen decided to establish a village on the shores of the lake. Thus creating the Angikuni People.

The city, in addition to fishing, was also famous for its liqueurs. Residents made wine and beer from wood to fight the cold. This drink became famous in the region, little by little it began to receive constant visitors.

Joe Labelle, a Canadian hunter, was also a lover of said beer. That’s why he visited the city constantly, taking the opportunity to sell his skins.

However, after stepping into the village, a strange feeling came over him. A stunned silence surrounded the entire city and its surroundings. He even thought he was in the wrong place, but that was impossible since he was a frequent visitor to the Village.

He walked the streets without finding any sign of people. Expecting them to be inside their houses, he waited outside to see if anyone came out, but still, he was able to find someone.

The city was filled with a dense and scary atmosphere and there was no one there. That hadn’t happened on any of his multiple visits.

After wandering around the city for a while, he decided to go to the house of his acquaintances. He called out to them by name, but received only the echo of his own voice in response.

This mysterious disappearance remains one of the strangest cases in the world.

So he decided to enter one of the houses. It was empty, but the stored food was in the cupboards, the children’s toys, the clothes. Everything was as if nothing had happened. He even found a pot of half-cooked rice in the oven.

I found a similar scenario in the house next door and in the next one. There was no one and the atmosphere indicated that they had disappeared from one moment to the next.

Unsuccessful theories and research

Labelle quickly went to the nearest Telegraph office and informed the local police of what had happened.

Immediately, police forces arrived on the scene and carried out an extensive search, but with no luck. However, they found something: a bleeding ritual.

Almost all the graves in the village cemetery were empty, so someone desecrated them. In the distance, the howls of 7 sled dogs could be heard, hungry, pale and almost lifeless.

Experts deduced that the dogs did “everything possible” to defend their owners, but failed.

None of the investigative bodies were able to deduce the mystery of the disappearance of the Anjikuni people.

The inhabitants of neighboring towns claimed to have seen a strange light that was lost in the northern sky. This triggered hypotheses related to abduction by aliens.

What really happened to the people of Angikuni? According to the Canadian Mounted Police, there has never been a more populous city in such a remote area. And the story first appeared in 1959 in the book Stranger Than Science by radio pioneer Frank Edwards.
