Alarm in Chile by the attack of a mysterious creature that drained the blood of more than 50 animals

More than a decade ago farmers in Calama, a mining town in northern Chile woke up to find their goats and sheep dead in their pens. An unidentified predator mutilated the animals. When reporters got word of a chupacabra attack, Chile’s first was spreading rapidly across the slender Pacific nation. A mix of vampire and hairy lizard, the chupacabra has become one of the most commonly studied beasts in the field of cryptozoology, the study of as-yet-unknown animals.

But the truth is that to this day no one has captured a chupacabra, although many witnesses claim to have seen one. Descriptions vary. Eyewitness accounts during a series of attacks in 1995 many in Puerto Rico described the creature as having a reptilian body, oval head, protruding red eyes, fanged teeth and a long tongue.

However, the chupacabra is not only found in South America, but also in other parts of the world including the United States and Europe. And now in 2021 it looks like the chupacabra has returned. A mysterious vampire beast has killed at least 50 animals by draining their blood in northern Chile.

The Return of the Chupacabra

Authorities and veterinarians in northern Chile are intrigued after finding dozens of llamas and alpacas bitten through the chest. However, experts say the fatal injuries do not match those of common predators like cougars and foxes that normally strike directly at the neck.

Farmers claim the creature only attacks at night and leaves no footprints to help identify or track it, further fueling local panic. Some believe it may be the mythical chupacabra that feeds by draining the blood of goats, cows and horses. Since November, there have been approximately 50 deaths of llamas and alpacas near the town of Colchane, across the border with Bolivia.

Colchane Mayor Javier García Choque was so concerned that he hired a veterinarian to study the remains. And Chile’s Agricultural Livestock Service (SAG) has already launched an investigation to help solve the mystery. For his part, Andrea Nieto, the local veterinarian who has examined and investigated the bodies, could not determine what killed them.

“They are not marks of predators from here like the cougar or the fox,” Andrea told Infobae. “You only see two punctures in the chest and nothing else. Apparently from there the animal sucked but a more thorough investigation is needed. “

His report ruled out an attack by wild dogs that dismembered their prey and also ruled out the possibility of bats.

“From the bite I can conclude that it is an animal with a small jaw due to the size of the prey, which is very advanced, unlike other predators that have them more laterally”, continues Andrea, explaining.

The mayor said that in the face of the neighbors’ concern that they will actively cooperate and deliver all available information to the SAG so they can conclude what kind of animal it is and how to contain it.

“If necessary, we will send reports to other entities to help us find this creature,” said Mayor Javier García.

When the first dead animals appeared the first thing some thought was that it was someone who was disturbed.

“At first when two or three dead appeared we thought it was someone,” said local farmer Juan Choque Choque. “But when more started to show up, we said no one could be that bad. And the killings continued indefinitely. My cousins told me it could be a creature called a chupacabra that left a person seriously injured in the South years ago. It scared me and we put lights with solar panels to light up the corrals and scare this animal away. I want them to find it so it stops hurting. ”

Another farmer named Luis Choque said that foxes have multiplied in the area, but that recent killings do not coincide with attacks by regular predators.

“It makes a small hole not in the neck, but in the side,” said Shock. “It does not eat its flesh or its entrails. I’ve never seen anything like it before. It attacks at night and the animals do not seem to defend their young.”

The SAG confirmed it had sent officials to examine the two llama pups killed last week for bite marks and footprints that could identify the predator.

“However, in both cases the animals were removed from the place of attack, which made the service’s investigation work more difficult”, said the spokesman for the SAG.

While the authorities search for the person responsible for these attacks, the farmers decide to install hidden cameras to record the mysterious creature on video. This incident confuses Chilean authorities and veterinarians, but it is not the only incident that has occurred in recent years. Since the beginning of August 2020, at least 22 cases of mutilated or dead horses and ponies have been recorded in France. While some horses appear to have been cut anywhere with some sort of knife, others have had their eyes spiky and many have had their ears cut off. Some horses, mostly mares, have also suffered genital mutilation.

And in August 2019 a truly egregious phenomenon took place in eastern Oregon, USA. Five breeding bulls turned up dead on a farm with all their blood sucked out, their tongues and genitals surgically removed. The mutilated bulls looked like “withered teddy bears” and, according to investigators, the deaths were truly mysterious. So far no one knows what is happening to all these animals, but everything indicates that it could be some kind of creature that we still don’t know about.

Is the culprit behind the mysterious death of animals in Chile the chupacabra?
