A huge golden beam has been spotted at Zigana Pass in the Pontic Mountains near the Turkish border, similar to the tractor beams of UFOs seen in sci-fi movies.
Residents were left baffled after spotting a giant tractor beam in place for three hours. They claim to have “never seen anything like it before”.
The huge golden beam was spotted at Zigana Pass in the Pontic Mountains of Gumushane Province, near the border with Trabzon Province in northeastern Turkey.
The rare phenomenon was captured from the facilities of the Zigana Gumuskayak Ski Center, at an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level.
Those who recorded it claimed that the huge golden light shone down the slopes of Zigana Pass from a single point for about three hours.
A spokesperson for the area’s ski center, Abdullah Eroglu, said they had seen a wide range of stunning views at the site before, but never like this.
He added, “We always recommend our visitors to watch Zigana’s unique views. »
“They were lucky enough to be able to watch the most amazing scene today. This ray of light touched the slopes of Zigana for a very long time. »
“We also filmed the scene with our mobile phones. It felt like a science fiction movie. »
“Some people have also compared it to a vertical rainbow. The clients of our center were very surprised to see the scene and immediately took their phones to immortalize the moment. »
Light beams are a common concept in sci-fi movies, as they are often seen descending from alien spacecraft in order to transport people on the ground into a UFO.
However, scientists say similar beams of light from clouds are known as crepuscular rays, which come from the Latin word “crepusculum” meaning twilight.
These beams of sunlight are usually made more visible by particles present in the year, such as dust, as they pass through gaps in clouds.
However, it is rare that they remain in place for so long. They are usually only visible at sunrise and sunset, as this is when the contrast between light and dark is most evident.
