Kazakhstan UFO Crash: The Story of a Shepherd Who Befriended an Alien

After harboring a crashed alien, Shepherd Sagynbai may have saved the Soviet nuclear-armed base from a UFO invasion.

This story takes place in June 1979 in the Turgai region of the Kazakh SSR, near Arkalyk – now almost abandoned, but at the time – a thriving industrial town.

The local shepherd, Sagynbay, woke up in the middle of the night, left the house and saw the sky shining. It seemed to him that the source of light was not far away, and the shepherd, saddled his horse, decided to go and find out the reason for this strange glow.

A nocturnal guest

After traveling several kilometers from his native village, he saw in the nocturnal steppe the traces of a large object fallen from the sky. Deciding it could be an airplane or a Soviet space satellite, the shepherd moved closer and was surprised to see a silver disc half buried in the rocky ground.

Deciding that it was not worth approaching such a discovery, Sagynbay returned to the village. And a few hundred meters from the fallen object, he came across an escape pod, very similar to a coal-black egg.

The surface of the capsule was of such texture that the shepherd decided it was simply a smooth boulder. But at this moment, the “boulder” suddenly opened, and from it, under the feet of the horse, fell, as it first seemed to Sagynbai, a tall man.

The shepherd’s horse snorted and stalked away, and the shepherd decided to ride away from the stranger for cover – to watch what happened next.

He understood that it would be best for him to walk away completely, but curiosity got in the way. However, the inhabitant of the device himself got up and immediately went to the shepherd.

The stranger was tall, with slender arms and legs. Huge eyes sparkled in the darkness. The Kazakh greeted the stranger with a raised hand, then gave him his horse and, on foot, leading him by the bridle, returned home.

To say that his wife was surprised is to say nothing. In another time she would have simply run away from home, but this time she was as if under hypnosis and obeyed her husband in everything. He ordered to cook beshbarmak in the middle of the night and set the table. The shepherd has placed his guest of the night in the most honorable place.

The woman prepared the dish, once again trying not to stare at the guest and not show increased interest. But the foreigner did not eat meat, but tasted the dough with appetite and ate whole kurt – a Kazakh national dish, dry dumplings, which are made from cottage cheese of sheep, goat or camel.

With gestures, he refused the bed prepared for him by the astonished woman, and remained at the table for the night, closing his eyes. The owners did not understand if he had slept.

An unexpected witness

In the morning, the shepherd woke up because a military UAZ entered his yard. Immediately realizing that the Soviet military were most likely looking for his nocturnal guest, the shepherd grabbed the alien by the hand and led him into the hayloft, where he showed signs that he should to hide.

As the alien sat in the sweet grass, the shepherd came out to meet the military.

When these began to ask him if he had seen anything unusual during the night, the shepherd shrugged and replied that he was sleeping soundly.

The soldiers, after having made a little more tour of the village, left.

The alien lived with the shepherd for two weeks. During this period, he managed to get acquainted with the villagers, learned to play cards and checkers, and soon began to beat the Kazakhs. It is noteworthy that all this time he did not utter a single word, but at the same time he perfectly understood everything that was said to him, and people, in turn, understood him.

He disappeared from Sagynbay’s home on June 26, 1979.

The fact that such a story, in general, happened, was told to journalists by Russian citizen Tatyana Leonova. In 1979, she was nine years old, and she lived with her father, a veterinarian, in Arkalyk.

Sometimes the father took the little girl with him for a visit. Shepherd Sagynbai was an old acquaintance of the vet, and one day he and his daughter came to visit.

The shepherd greeted the vet cordially, fed him and gave him tea, and then there was noise outside. The shepherd said something to the vet and, taking him by the elbow, led him out of the house.

Despite her father’s order to stay at the table, the girl started running after him. She saw the men heading for the barn and followed them.

Looking inside the barn, Tatyana saw a gray creature surrounded by people. The creature had a head twice the size of a human and black eyes half the size of its face.

Her father told her the whole story when she was growing up. She also compared the alien’s disappearance with the Turgai incident, which happened on June 26, 1979 – that is, the day the alien disappeared.

This incident, most directly related to the first, took place about a hundred kilometers from Arkalyk, near the city of Derzhavinsk, not far from the local military unit that serviced the mines with nuclear ballistic missiles R-36, nicknamed “Satan” by Americans.

A day before the incident, eyewitnesses saw fireballs in the sky, and on the day of the incident, schoolchildren from the Beryozka pioneer camp saw aliens.

After dinner, a group of pioneers, among whom was the daughter of a local police major, Svetlana Kvacheva, fled from the camp and decided to light a fire on the slope of a nearby hill.

The idea had to be interrupted in the most unexpected way: three-meter humanoids came out into the light of the fire. The children ran screaming towards the camp, the humanoids followed them.

Hiding behind the fence of the pioneer camp and feeling relatively safe, the children began to call for strangers to follow them: “Come here, let’s talk!” »

However, the foreigners did not accept the invitation. At this time, night was already falling, and Svetlana Kvacheva remembered the terrible eyes that sparkled red in the dark.

The leader of the pioneers, who was walking around the camp in the evening, came across a dark giant humanoid on one of the paths. The girl got scared and ran away. She came back later with the guardian, but there was no more alien, and the legs of the chair sank deep into the ground.

The next day, everyone in the camp heard a rumble, as if a jet plane was taking off somewhere nearby. This whole story wouldn’t be worth a damn if it wasn’t for the military rocket base nearby. According to some reports, it contained up to 15% of the nuclear potential of the USSR.

Sveta Kvacheva told the incident to her father, a police commander, who took the story seriously, after which the children were interrogated by the military and then also by KGB officers.

The incident became known to the general public only after one of the eyewitnesses, probably camp workers, told the editors of one of the Soviet youth magazines.

If we establish a connection between this incident and the one in Arkalyk, located not far from Derzhavinsk, we can assume that the “space guys” came by plane for their brother and at the same time carried out reconnaissance from the military base.

And who knows what would have happened if they hadn’t found it and approached the base with missiles.
