A potentially dangerous asteroid will approach Earth on August 12

The “potentially dangerous” blue whale-sized asteroid 2015 FF, which measures between 13 and 28 meters in diameter, will pass Earth on Friday, August 12, 2022, according to NASA .
The asteroid is moving at a speed of 33,000 km/h, or about 27 times the speed of sound.
At its closest point, the asteroid will be at a distance of 4.3 million km, or about eight times the Earth-Moon distance.
However, as NASA notes, any space object that comes within 193 million km of Earth is considered a “Near-Earth object.”
Those within 7.5 million km are categorized as “potentially hazardous asteroids”, of which 2015FF is a part.
Asteroid 2015 FF was discovered on March 16, 2015. Asteroid 2015 FF’s next close flight with our planet will be on August 19, 2066.
